Lanao Sur-I tackles teachers’ problems in a consultation

The Department of Education of Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DepEd(DepEd-ARMM) conducted a consultation to tackle and address issues and concerns of public school teachers and DepEd non-teaching personnel in the schools division of Lanao del Sur-I.
Atty. Rasol Y. Mitmug, Jr., DepEd-ARMM secretary, graced the occasion held Friday at the division office here of Lanao del Sur-I.
Mitmug in his speech said when before he came in at the department, he heard mostly negative issues. But he was surprised to learn that there are many good things happening in the department.

“Marami pala nangyayari at and daming nagagawa,” he said. “Unfortunately, dahil magulo sa dami ng issue at reklamo ng mga teachers natatabunan ang magandang ginagawa ng mga teachers,” he added.
“Iyan ang pakiusap ko, 23,000 tayong lahat, kasama ang administrative staff around 24,000; kung ang titingnan lang natin ay ang kapwa natin: na promote ba siya o hindi o nakasuweldo ba siya o hindi, o nakapasok ba siya sa secretary at nauna sa 23,000, ang core issue ay matatabunan talaga sa atin,” Mitmug emphasized.
“What is the core issue ng DepEd?,” he asked.
“Number 1 is the children, the entire institution — you, me, all of us,” he said.
Mitmug appealed: “Let’s address core issues, not personal interest.”
The consultation was attended by Lanao del Sur-I division and district officials, principals, head teachers, teachers and non-teaching personnel led by schools division superintendent Dr. Normillah Pangandaman, assistant schools division superintendents Soraida Noor and Sahanee Sumagayan for secondary and elementary education respectively.
Officials of other schools division in Lanao del Sur also joined the consultation including Pharida L. Sansarona, schools division superintendent of Marawi City, and Ms. Balt, Lanao del Sur-II caretaker.
Aside from Secretary Mitmug, the affair was also graced by Atty. Laisa Masuhud Alamia, DSWD-ARMM secretary, Dr. Somerado Pandapatan, DepEd-ARMM BAFOSS, among others.- RSOY/RSP
