DTI Central office paves way for franchise intervention to rebuild Marawi

Under the auspices of the Department of Trade and Industry central office, a two-day Entrepreneurship training program was conducted at the social hall of the Provincial Capitol Complex here last February 27-28, 2018.
The intervention is aimed to supplement multi-sectoral efforts to rebuild the battle-scarred city by promoting franchising as an alternative investment option to help facilitate local trade activities and generate jobs in the community.
It also seeks to benefit the families displaced by the siege. The program is composed of entrepreneurial training programs and special franchise package for selected beneficiaries.
Assistant Secretary Abdulgani Macatoman of DTI central office said that they are happy to participate in this kind of intervention of the private sector like the franchise intervention to rebuild Marawi.
“I believe that we Maranaos are talented businessmen,” he said, adding, “for your information before I became assistant secretary (of DTI), I was also a franchise businessman and this franchise business is very good.”
Macatoman said that DTI is able to give sewing machines, mobile cars, bongo truck to IDPs. He said they are waiting for the guidelines from Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) as DTI is now chair of some committees like the livelihood etc. He also said DTI has program to extend loans to IDPs.
Macatoman said that "DTI is your partner in rebuilding Marawi."
The program was conducted in partnership with the GO Negosyo, Philippines Franchise Association, the Provincial Local Government Unit of Lanao Del Sur, and the City Local Government Unit of Marawi.
