Senator Richard J. Gordon with the Red Cross delegation visited on Thursday, December 7, internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Saguiaran Municipality and extended relief packs to the evacuees.
Gordon who is chairman of Philippine Red Cross Board of Governors was with Oscar P. Palabyab, PRC secretary general, and delegates from Qatar and the International Red Cross (IRC).
Hafiz Muti, town vice mayor and staff of Saguiaran local government unit welcomed and assisted the delegation. Town Mayor Macmod R. Muti was on an official travel during the visit.
In visiting Saguiaran, Gordon's group came from the provincial capitol in Marawi to give recognition to their humanitarian workers.
At the Saguiaran evacuation centers, Gordon's group distributed 400 packs of Hygiene Kits. They also gave hot meal feeding (champorado) to learners of Saguiaran Elementary School (SES). Incidentally, SES is under Lanao del Sur Schools Division 1 headed by Superintendent Normillah Pangandaman.
From Saguiaran, Gordon proceeded to Gumampong Ali Cultural Center in Baloi, Lanao del Norte where hundreds of evacuees are also housed. (RSP)
