Assistant Secretary Abdulgani Macatoman of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) revealed that the P3 Billion loans to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of the Marawi Siege is already approved and IDPs may avail of the loans amounting from P5 thousand to P100 thousand each.
Asec Macatoman said that they just need to coordinate with registered cooperatives which are in good standing because through them the loans will be channeled. Priority, however, is given to the IDPs, he added.
The DTI assistant secretary also asked local government units (LGUs) in Lanao del Sur if they could provide vacant space or buildings for free where to put rice mills because DTI is providing equipment for rice milling for the benefit of the indigents.
Macatoman said the LGUs may coordinate directly with his office.
He said since the government of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) has passed through a lot of experiences, businessmen from Marawi can go directly to the DTI central office in Manila for immediate approval of requests. (RSP)
