Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director General, Secretary Guiling “Gene” Mamondiong has asked the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate the syndicate involve in the production of fake National Certificate (NC) and Certificate of Competency (COC) which are only given by the government agency.
In a press release, Mamondiong said that he is extremely concerned about the distribution of fake certificates nationwide because it besmirches the image and credibility of TESDA.
Reports reaching the TESDA said that a syndicate is behind the production of fake certificates which are being sold to the public who eventually use them in applying for jobs.
It is of common knowledge that fake documents especially government certificates ID cards abound everywhere in the country. And culprits have yet to be nailed down.
Mamondiong also warned the public against the distribution of fake certificates and those who patronize them saying that it is against the law.
Appropriate charges will be filed against those who will be arrested if they will be found guilty of their involvement in the fake production of TESDA certificates.
Mamondiong has instructed all provincial and regional offices of TESDA to conduct a similar investigation on fake certificates.
The NC is given to those who finish a course or pass the TESDA assessment after they have completed their skills training while the COC is given to those who cannot acquire the NC.
Mamondiong said that he is surprised about the fake certificates because the material used in the production is a security paper from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
The TESDA chief also encouraged the public to inform the agency of anyone involve in the production of fake certificates so that they could arrest them and file charges.
Mamondiong said that TESDA is now looking for measures on how to prevent the syndicates from faking the certificates.
He also invited the public to visit the TESDA website www.tesda.gov.ph to check if the person has acquired the agency's certificates. (TESDA)
