JV Ejercito Speaks at Economic Forum in MSU-IIT

Senator JV Ejercito was the Keynote Speaker in a Forum on ASEAN Integration and Economic Program of the Duterte Administration held at the College of Education Amphitheatre of MSU-IIT, here, last Wednesday, November 30.
Ejercito discussed the economic agenda of the Duterte administration against the backdrop of a new thrust in foreign relations especially with that of the People’s Republic of China.
He said that China has committed to help the Philippines in carrying out its economic agenda especially in infrastructure development and transportation
He mentioned that China will undertake the Railway System that will soon be built in Mindanao.
He mentioned that infrastructure must be built to facilitate the movement of goods and products from the production areas to the markets.
He also emphasized the need to build more power capacities for Luzon and the Visayas.
He said that the Administration is looking at the possibility of reviving the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant.
He said that nuclear power is still the cheapest source of energy at an estimated P2.50 per kilowatt hour.
To the cheers of the audience, he announced that he is supporting the move of Iligan City Lone District Congressman Frederick Siao asking for government intervention in the resumption of the operations of National Steel Corporation.
During a brief meeting with the Press, Senator Ejercito and Congressman Siao explained their mutual cooperation in both houses of Congress.
Both lawmakers also agreed that there may be a need to amend the EPIRA Law so that more Hydroelectric Plants can be built by the government to augment the power needs of the country.
“I had read the EPIRA Law three times, but still I have not understood it,” Ejercito quipped..
