65th IB intercepts more than a kl of 'shabu'
Saguiaran, Lanao del Sur - Elements of 65th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army an estimated one kilo of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu in a checkpoint operation, around 7:30 in the evening of October 21, in Barangay Pawak, here.
This was through a 'joint operation' of the said military unit, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) from Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and the PNP Regional Public Safety Battalion based in Marawi City.
Authorities flagged down a brand new Hyundai Tucson vehicle with temporary plate number MO5426, supposedly from Iligan City going to Marawi, driven by certain Raihana M. Disalo, 23 years old. Base on her postal ID, Disalo is a resident of Marawi City. She was with a girl who is said to be of minor age.
"By plain view, nakita ng mga tao natin na nag-checkpoint, ang isang transparent plastic na inuupuan ng pasahero'ng bata na 10 years old," said LtC. Joselito Pastrana, Battalion Commander of 65IB PA.
Recovered from the vehicle are three cellular phones, postal ID, official receipt of Hyundai, bag with personal belongings and two bank deposit slips. It was indicated that a four million pesos and another 25 thousand pesos were deposited to a male person with Chinese name.
"Wala na tayong nakuhang ibang impormasyon mula sa dalawa kasi hindi sila nagsasalita," said Pastrana.
After the processing, Disalo and her companion, together with the evidences, were brought by the PDEA operatives to their regional office in Cotabato City for disposition and appropriate filing of charges.*
