(Dateline Iligan) Batch 2 SMAW Training in Kiwalan Opens

The Training on Sheet Metal Welding (SMAW), Batch 2, in Kiwalan, this City, was launched last June 2 at the barangay gym.
Barangay Captain Antonio Alon of said barangay disclosed that the skills training program is a joint project of the barangay and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
He said that the project is made possible through the collaboration of PowerSource Philippines Energy, Inc. (PPEI), Republic Cement, Iligan, Inc. and Granexport Manufacturing Corporation.
The SMAW training in Barangay Kiwalan started last May 2015.
On that occasion, PPEI donated two (2) complete sets of Welding Machines.
This year on the second batch, PPEI donated scrap/used steel plates for the skills practice of the trainees.
As in the previous batch, the trainees will undergo NC1 Assessment of TESDA.
PPEI also plans to sponsor 100 SMAW trainees to take the NC2 assessment examination after passing NC1.
This year's launching was attended by PPEI's Construction/Site Manager Engr. Reynaldo P. Ramirez.
On behalf of PPEI’s Vice President Engineer Victor R. Ceniza, Rechel T. Centino and Amor R. Orbe of Community Relations (ComRel) also attended the launching program.
