(Late but Worthwhile) 2 Die, 8 hurt in 3-Vehicle Collision

ILIGAN CITY – Two persons died on the spot while 8 others landed in hospital, some seriously injured, after an Isusu Wing Van Truck full of coconuts fell on its left side, turned turtle and laid over a Toyota Sedan car and a passenger van at a sharp curve of the Iligan-Marawi Highway in barangay Maria Cristina, this city.

Desk Officer PO2 Bart Anthony Paculanang of Police Station 2 based in Nonucan, this City, reported that the Isusu Wing Van Truck loaded with coconuts was travelling downhill toward the City at about 11 PM, June 13 when it fell to its left side then turned turtle while maneuvering a curve part of the road at barangay Maria Cristina.

As the truck fell, its body laid over the top portion of a Toyota Sedan, driven by one Keven Lomoljo, 24, a resident of Saduc Marawi City which was travelling from the opposite direction, the report added.


After impact, the Isusu Wing Truck slid further downhill and the left top portion of its body rammed against a Toyota Hi Ace Commuter van that was tailing the Toyota Sedan, the report said.

According to the report the Commuter van was driven by Ting Kamana, 44, of Balabagan, Lanao del Sur.

All three vehicles were badly damaged, the report stated.

Annaliza Lomoljo, married of Maria Cristina, this City, who was riding on the Toyota Sedan, sustained serious injuries and was immediately rushed to Mercy Community Hospital but declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The driver of the Commuter Van was brought to the Adventist Hospital of Iligan City but also died.

Injured during the incident were Nasser Johanera Aubabacar, 19, single, Mariam Ampaso Abubakar, 43, married, both of Balabagan, Lanao del Sur who were brought to the Mercy Community Hospital for treatment.

Casan Totodan Abubacar 16, Suraine Ansao, 46 , Misuarie Tiburon Solay, Princess Joharleen Ansao, 7 years old, Hassan Totodan Abubacar, Abdulhalim Totodan Juanday, 9 years old , all of Poblacion, Balabagan, Lanao del Sur and Kevin Lomoljo 16, a of Saduc, Marawi City, were broght to Adventist Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Isusu Wing van Truck abandoned his driven vehicle and fled after the incident. He remained unidentified at press time.

It was also learned that the woman who died had just arrived from a travel in Luzon and was fetched by the Toyota Sedan from Laguindingan Airport.

The injured passengers of the Commuter van were reportedly going home after attending the graduation rites at MSU-IIT, Tibanga, here. –TNRS-
