Bomb explodes in front of environment official’s residence in Zamboanga Sibugay
ZAMBOANGA CITY, June 1 -– The police are reviewing the security camera video as thorough probe is underway to unmask the identity of the suspect behind the bombing on the residence of a government official in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay.
Supt. Rogelio Alabata, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) spokesman, disclosed the incident took place shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday at a subdivision in Barangay Veteran’s Village, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Alabata said bombed was the residence of Atty. Allan Tolorio of the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO).
Alabata said the improvised bomb was placed at the main gate of Tolorio’s residence by an unidentified person wearing a hooded jacket around 1:33 a.m. Wednesday based on the video captured by the security camera.
He said the improvised bomb was placed in a plastic container and concealed in a plastic bag that was left at the main gate.
He said the explosion, which caused damage on the main gate, awakened the Tolorio family and their neighbors.
He said the motive of the incident could be work-related since Tolorio received death threats prior to the incident.
He added that Tolorio handled several cases in 2013 before the latter joined the government service. (PNA)
