Provincial employees celebrate Women’s month
TUBOD, Lanao del Norte – Employees of provincial government of Lanao del Norte (PGLDN) recently participated in the formal launching of Women’s Month celebration held at the Provincial Capitol grounds, Brgy. Pigcarangan, Tubod town, this province, on March 7, 2016.
The launching program was spearheaded by the Technical Working Group of the GAD Focal Point System (GFPS), composed of department heads of PGLDN.
“As always, we want to focus attention to the plight of our Filipino women, their struggles, and aspirations, and the need to empower them because only when we support our women sector can we have a strong nation”, said Provincial Administrator and GFPS Co-Chair Joselito Quibranza.
To add color to the annual celebration, more than 100 household items and kitchen appliances were raffled off and distributed to provincial employees during the regular flag raising ceremony. Prizes include blankets, sleeping mats, bathroom towels, rice cooker, basin, pail, teapots, shoe racks, magic pillows, umbrellas, kettles, baskets and plastic kitchen wares.
On March 8, provincial employees planted more than 1,000 mangrove propagules, as part of the International Women’s Day celebration at the mangrove reforestation site located at Barangay Kulasihan, in the coastal town of Kolambugan.
GFPS will also be distributing household items and kitchen appliances to different women organizations in each town of Lanao del Norte during the Women’s Month celebration in the municipality-level.
A one-day culmination program has also been set on the last week of March at the sprawling Mindanao Civic Center (MCC) complex, Tubod.
One of the anticipated highlights of the event is the talent presentations by various women’s associations throughout the province. LAR & VNL/PIO-LDN
