PEACE AND REFORM CARAVAN ROLLS AROUND LAKE LANAO

A first of its kind Peace and Reform Caravan around Lake Lanao was held, February 13.

According to the organizers, the caravan started in Marawi City and travelled counter-clockwise around the lake toward Marantao down to Ganassi, the southwestern-most municipality and eastward from Pualas with stops at Binidayan and Masiu until it returned to the City and converged at Plaza Cabili where a program was held shortly after lunchtime.


Master of Ceremony Former Assemblywoman Samira Gutoc-Tomawis announced that the activity was led by Kalimundan Foundation, Inc. in partnership with KAZALIMBAGO, Inc. and other civil society groups and civic clubs including a Motorcycle Club.

It was said that the objective of the caravan was to promote peaceful, orderly, honest and clean May 2016 Elections.


103rd Infantry Brigade Commander Roseller Murillo told The New Ranao Star, “We are doing this for the future generations of Lanao del Sur.”

Task Force Halalan Chairman Col. Manolo Samarita said that they want to “ensure na maging (will be) peaceful ang (the) Election.”

Provincial PNP Director Siegfred Ramos said that everybody is interested to make the forthcoming elections in the City of Marawi and the province of Lanao del Sur one if not the first one that will be peaceful, orderly, honest and clean.



The program closed with exciting musical numbers played by a local band.
