Through Office Order No. MO-039, Series of 2016 dated 15 February 2016, the Secretary of DepEd-ARMM reiterated his announcement that City Schools Superintendent Mona S. Macatanong is no longer connected with the department.
The Order signed by DepEd Regional Secretary Dr. Johnny A. Magno reiterated that Macatanong reached her “compulsory retirement from the service effective October 18, 2013.”
It was also “clarified that Memorandum Office Order No. MO-340, series of 2015 with a subject Compulsory Retirement of SDS Mona A. Macatanong is still valid and being enforced by this Office. It has not been declared null and void by any court of justice.”
The Order continued, “Hence, all transactions made and course through her shall not be honored by this Office and shall be considered as illegal. Thus, all concerned are hereby advised to refrain from making any transaction or dealing with her.”
Lastly, the Order warned that, “Any employee of the department who is found to deal with her in connection with whatever matter/s related to DepEd-ARMM shall be subjected to appropriate administrative disciplinary action and the corresponding penalty shall be imposed.
In connection with this latest Office Order, The New Ranao Star has not contacted Macatanong for comments.
However, in a recent interview, Macatanong insisted that she is still the Schools Division Superintendent of Marawi City since the Court of Appeals has not decided with finality on the matter of her corrected Date of Birth.
