A Congressional Candidate for the Lone District, this City, is vehemently opposing the completion of Del Carmen-Palao Section of the C-3 Road here.

In a Press Conference held at his residence in barangay Del Carmen, February 15, Uriel Jojo Borja, scion of the family that owns the electric power distribution company who is running for Congress in the forthcoming elections, said that he is opposing the completion of the portion of C-3 Road mentioned for purely humanitarian reasons.

“This is beyond politics. I just want to protect the people from a possible tragedy,” he said.

Borja said that by cutting the road near the top side of the hill overlooking Del Carmen and the whole of Iligan, DPWH has placed the barangay and the entire city in danger of a landslide in the event that a prolonged heavy rain falls.

He showed to Media a satellite image of the road depicting its relative proximity to the areas mentioned.

It appears that DPWH has filed before the Regional Trial Court of Lanao del Norte, Branch 05, an Expropriation proceeding against Borja, Veronica Tamparong and Betty S. Salson the owners of the land where the remaining about 800 meters of the road has not been concreted because of Borja’s objection.

DPWH has filed an Urgent Motion to set Hearing on the Issuance of a Writ of Possession over the property.

According to Borja the Court has set the case for hearing on March 3, 1016.

Borja asked members of Iligan Media to attend the said hearing.
