Angry supporters of Mayor Celso G. Regencia express last week strong opposition to the reported move of the DOJ Prosecutors to transfer his detention to Initao, Misamis Oriental.
Callers of the pro-Regencia Radio Program aired over one of the FM Radio Stations in Iligan blamed Congressman Vicente F. Belmonte for allegedly initiating the move for Regecia’s transfer.
One identified by listeners to be a certain “Bitualla” went to the extent of agitating that if Regencia will be transferred they would get the children of those politicians responsible.
It was learned that the outrage came about when the Court Administrator of the Supreme Court asked the Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court Branch 44 based in Initao, Misamis Oriental handling the Multiple Murder and Multiple Frustrated Murder cases against Regencia to comment on a request of the Head of the DOJ Special Panel of Prosecutors assigned to the case to transfer the accused to the Initao Jail and transfer of the trial venue to any Court in Metro Manila.
The Special Prosecutors cited reasons why their request should be granted.
Lawyers of the accused said over the radio that the move of the Special Prosecutors should be in a form of a Motion instead of a mere request.
On the other hand a Parish Priest alleged to be openly a backer of Regencia reportedly exhorted supporters to set up a picket at the City Jail to protect the accused.
As of this writing there have been no updates on the said move of the DOJ Prosecutors.
