And this time seems to be the season of fighting for power among those who wield them.

In Cagayan de Oro, there’s the one between Mayor Moreno and Vice Mayor Acenas.

Iligan has its share with Regencia and Marzo coming in and getting out intermittently.

In Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte, Arnado is disqualified by the Commission on Elections from running for Mayor and his opponent, Florante Capitan who got far second highest number of votes was proclaimed. The decision is affirmed by the Supreme Court. But he does not step down because he said that he was born in Kauswagan and those who want him out are not from Kauswagan.

The latest one may be the case in Ditsaan Ramain, Lanao del Sur. But it is somewhat different. The Vice Mayor assumed as Acting Mayor because the Mayor was dismissed by the Ombudsman. And while there are tensions in some areas, there is no violent struggle for power here.
