WEDNESDAY IS NON-WORKING HOLIDAY IN ARMM
The Office of the Regional Governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ORG-ARMM) has announced that Wednesday, October 14 is a non-working holiday in celebration of Muslim New Year ‘Amun Jadeed.”
In a Memorandum Circular No. 007 Series of 2015 issued on October 8 by authority of Governor Mujiv S. Hataman and signed by Executive Secretary Atty. Laisa Masuhud Alamia, it is said that “Pursuant to P.D. 1083, otherwise known as Code on Muslim Personal Laws (CMPI), and MMA Act No. 17, recognizing the observance of Amun Jadeed or Islamic New Year which falls on the fidt day of the first lunar month of Muharram, it is hereby declared that OCTOBER 14, 2015 (01 Muharram 1437H) as Regular Non-Working Holiday in the entre Autnomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.”
Amun Jadeed is said to be the day when Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) migrated to Madinah from Makkah to escape the persecution of the Kuraish as he was propagating the commandment of Allah, calling people to embrace Islam, the Right Religion.
