Thousands Rally for BBL in Marawi
MARAWI CITY - Braving the glare of the morning sun last Monday, August 31, thousands gather at the main avenue of this Islamic City to express for the nth time their determination to have the original proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) as drafted by the Transition Commission passed into law.
Rallyists also slammed Senator Ferdinand “Bong Bong” R. Marcos Jr. as Berdugo ng for changing the original BBL.
The mass action was organized by The Ranao Confederation for Peace led by its President/Convenor Datu Musa Sultan.
In its MANIFESTO made in the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, the confederation expressed its desire to reach its “eternal quest for peace, development, freedom and self-determination through all available and justifiable means.”
It mentioned the renewed Moro rebellion four decades ago that was an offshoot of long time neglect, indifference and personal interests during the different Philippine administrations.
It said that “the Bangsamoro is NOT war-like” but “basically peace-loving people.”
It stated that the Bangsamoro just reacted to “turbulent and oppressive environment imposed on them by colonialists and some Filipino conspirators.”
They only responded to the adversity for their survival and self-defense, the manifesto said.
The manifesto also stated that they had been the repeated victims of the series of peace agreements with the Philippine Government yet they still demonstrate faith and trust in the Framework Agreement (FAB), the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) and the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law which embody their hopes and prospects to settle the centuries-old conflict in Mindanao.
It asserted that “the bill crafted by the Bangsamoro Transition Commission and certified by President Aquino as a priority bill in Congress is the only acceptable bill to the Bangsamoro people.”
It also vehemently said that any substitute bill diluted and watered down by the Senate shall meet a resounding “NO” in the plebiscite.
In conclusion, the confederation prayed for the passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law in its original version sooner or later.
The Manifesto was signed by Datu Musa Sultan, President/Convenor, Bae Mara Saber Macarambon, Secretary Samira Gutoc, Former Assemblywoman, Fr. Teresito Soganob of the MSV of Marawi, former Congressman Benasing Macarambon, Jr., Pendatun B. Disimban, Deputy Administrator, CDA and scores of others.
