More than 500 dancers join Lanao del Norte Zumbathon

Tubod, Lanao del Norte – More than 500 dancers from different towns of Lanao del Norte joined the Zumbathon organized by the provincial government and Provincial Women’s Organization last June 28, 2015.

A report from the Public Information Office said that the event dubbed as the “2nd Zumbathon sa Lanao del Norte” was one of the highlights of the week-long 56th ‘Araw ng Lanao del Norte’ celebration.

“We are happy that many are now concern with their health and are getting into sports and doing exercises like Zumba.

“With the steadfast support of Gov. Khalid Dimaporo, the provincial and municipal employees, and our men in uniform, we intend to help distressed children cope and adjust through play therapy”, expressed Provincial Women’s Organization (PWO) President Jocelyn dela Cruz Zamora.

It was learned that the proceeds of that fund-raising activity will be used to purchase materials and equipment to build a children’s play room at the Women and Children’s Crisis Center, inside the newly-constructed PSWDO Building, barangay Pigcarangan, this capital town.

The report said that the Zumbathon, led by Connie Lo Noval of Aerobics Jazz Fitness Center of Iligan City, started at 5AM and ended 8AM.

Among those who participated in the event were members of the Lanao del Norte Provincial Police Force, Philippine Army, provincial and municipal employees, as well as local barangay officials, the report added.

The report concluded that the zumbathon was organized in coordination with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) headed by Anabelle Mendez who also oversees the activities of PWO.
