Lanao del Norte youth chosen as one of Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines

Lynrose Jane Genon of the coastal town of Kolambugan, province of Lanao del Norte is one of this year’s Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP).
Genon a former Sangguniang Kabataan Chairperson of Brgy. Baybay, Kolambugan town was also the recipient of MSU-IIT's 2015 Institute Leadership Award and the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) Valedictorian.
The TOSP awarding ceremony was held on July 30, 2015 at Heroes Hall, Malacañan Palace and Genon was one of those recognized.
During the ceremony, Genon received two plaques, one as part of the national finalists and one as belonging to the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines.
Young Genon graduated as magna cum laude for her Bachelor of Arts in English degree and was also one of the recipients of the Best Thesis award.
Her academic distinctions were achieved despite her numerous commitments outside the school as an active student officer (AB English Organization Mayor and FEMSUSCO Executive Secretary) and as proponent of various student extension activities.
Ms. Genon spent most of her weekends teaching out-of-school youths in her hometown and volunteering in the Alternative Learning System (ALS). To her, ccommunity service is “an act of love and not of responsibility.”
In an interview, Genon shares that one has to play the game of life which has three rules: pay attention, believe that you can do it, and know your limits. An advice that she recommends to students and youth leaders.
As a youth from Lanao del Norte, she is happy to be a part of TOSP and having proved that the Lanao del Norte youth is capable of achieving national recognition.
She is proud to be the first youth from her fast-rising province to receive such national distinction and be counted as one of the country's outstanding students.
Lynrose is currently part of Asian Institute of Management's first fellowship for the Future Bridging Leaders Program (FBLP). She is one of the chosen 26 out of more than 100 applicants from all over the country granted this rare scholarship. FBLP is the youth program of the Bridging Leaders program completed by Governor Khalid Dimaporo
