31 Honored on 65th Iligan City Anniversary
ILIGAN CITY—31 Outstanding citizens were recognized by the Leaders of the City during the 65th Founding Anniversary last June 16.
In his message Acting Mayor Roderic C. Marzo said that he hopes through these awards that others will also strive to excel in their respective fields of endeavor.
Awarded for outstanding performance by Congressman Vicente F. Belmonte, Jr., Acting Mayor Roderic Marzo and Acting Vice-Mayor Providencio Abragan, Jr. were the following: 1)Mr. Rex Razo- Outstanding Principal 2)Dr. Enerio Ebisa - Outstanding Teacher 3)Prof. Christian T.N. Aguado -Outstanding Cultural Artist 4)Datu Esma Mikee Maruhom -Outstanding Youth Leader 5) Ma. Cristina Federated Women’s Association – Outstanding Women’s Association 6)Ms. Marivic Castillo Balchin - Outstanding Contribution to Beautification Project 7) PO2 Romeo V. Senen - Posthumous Award for laying his life during the SAF Operation to capture terrorist Alyas Marwan 8) PO2 Chum Agabon- Posthumous Award for laying his life during the SAF Operation to capture terrorist Alyas Marwan 9) Mabuhay Vinyl Corporation -Top Taxpayer on Real Property Tax Category 10) Pilmico Foods Corporation - Top Taxpayer on Real Property Tax Category 11) Iligan Light and Power Inc. - Top Taxpayer on Manufacturing Category and 12) La Farge Mindanao, Inc. -Top Taxpayer sa Manufacturing Category.
For their successes in the national sports competition, the following also got awards: 1) Lucian Antonio Alejo – in Triathlon 2) Joenric Enricoso – in Arnis 3) Nicolai Chiong – in Swimming 4) Froy Wee - in Karate-do 5) R-Jay Pepito – in Taekwondo 6) Clarenze Tabaranza - Triathlon 7) Richie Dala - Athletics 8) Rey Paulo Lamayan - Table Tennis 9) Kathleen Faith Arado -Volleyball named Rookie of the Year in the UAAP Women’s Volleyball Season ’78 10) Allan Gerry Manlangit - Lawn Tennis.
The following coaches were also awarded:1) Johnny Enricoso – Arnis 2) Leyann Ramo –Swimming 3) Ray Mendoza - Karate-do 4) Rafael Pondoc -Taekwondo 5) Benito Labao - Triathlon 6) Michael Neri - Athletics 7) Bernard Ocon - Table Tennis 8) Leo Anthony Garcia - Volleyball 9) Delia Sebumpan - Lawn Tennis.

Iligan celebrated the 65thanniversary of its creation on June 16, 1950 under Republic Act 525 authored by Lanao Lone District Congressman Mohammad Ali Dimaporo and signed into law by President Elpidio Quirino. –TNRS
