During its first meeting in 2015, the Regional Development Planning Board approved yesterday, the P10-Billion Infrastructure Budget submitted by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) for the next fiscal year.

Executive Secretary Atty. Laisa Alamia who presided over the Board Meeting, told newsmen that the said budget was prepared after a Regional Planners Meeting held months ago where bottom up budgeting was emphasized.

She said that the budgets for the municipalities and gathered at the provincial level were duly signed by the corresponding Mayors and the Provincial Governors.

She added that the said budget consolidated by the DPWH had been thoroughly reviewed by the local governments of the five provinces of the region.

“It shall now be forwarded for legislative approval by the Regional Legislative Assembly (RLA) and from there it will be forwarded to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) for inclusion in the General Appropriations Act to be passed by Congress for 2016,” she concluded.

It was also learned that the Budgets of Lanao del Sur and Tawi-tawi were not included because they submitted lists of projects that cannot all be funded in one year.

“The budgets of the two provinces were returned for further review and prioritization,” Alamia said.

She said that during the Regional Planners Meeting mentioned earlier, it was clearly emphasized that only projects for funding in 2016 should be included in the Budget Proposals.
