DTI, IT enthusiasts conduct ICT Career Guidance Orientation for Graduating HS Students

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, March 25, 2015 (PIA) -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Camiguin Provincial Office together with the Camiguin Information Technology Enthusiasts (C.I.T.E.) conducted Career Guidance Orientation on Information and Communication Technology among 4th Year High Schools in Camiguin on March 17-19, 2015.

Now on its 3rd year, the orientation aimed to increase awareness as well as foster appreciation on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) related courses among graduating high school students in the province and that IT related courses are in demand in the market with reasonably high salaries.

Information drives were undertaken in public and private high schools in Camiguin aimed at motivating high schools to pursue an ICT related courses in college, provide ICT related manpower, encourage more investors like in the areas of call centers, government institutions that utilize ICT and other communication technology reliant institutions and businesses and thereby increase employment of the ICT sector not only in the Camiguin but in the country as well.

CITE is a private group with policy advocacies to harness potentials in ICT development and how to fully benefit from an ICT-driven development strategy.

CITE memberships comes from the academes like the Department of Education (DepEd), Camiguin Polytechnic State College, DTI and Camiguin Telephone Cooperative (CAMTECO), among others.

DTI, meanwhile, is committed to support and implement programs and projects gearing towards developing a skilled workforce, a basic policy environment that is right for business growth, encourages strong private sector support in the pursuit of a common ICT agenda, assists in the rising of entrepreneurial abilities suitable for a globalizing economy and promoting the use of ICT to streamline business processes to modernize government operations for greater productivity.
