GA ASKS PEOPLE ALWAYS TO BE ALERT
By FRANK E. DOSDOS, JR.
The newly installed Acting Iligan City Police Office Director PSSupt Leony Roy G Ga asked the Public to be always vigilant against criminals and other lawless elements.
In an interview with this writer Ga said that the public must report to the nearest policeman any unusual incident or suspicious looking persons or objects observed in their premises.
He said that drivers of motorcycle picking passengers and taxi drivers must observe closely their prospective passenger/s before conducting them to their destination.
He made this advice due to recurring murders of motorcycle drivers in uninhabited or isolated locations in the outskirts of the city.
He said that in proportion to the population the number of policemen is much smaller thus secluded areas and places outside the urban center cannot be included in their regular patrols.
He added that there are force multipliers such as Purok Officials, Barangay Tanods and AFP soldiers but there is no substitute to a vigilant citizenry.
On the other hand, Ga said he is preparing a Written Commendation for a Policewoman identified as PO1 Brigoli who earned praises from the public on Facebook for talking with an old woman and helping the latter find a jeepney to take her home.
It was learned that the old woman had a hard time getting a ride when noticed by the female cop.
Ga commented that such a gesture of concern for a person who needs help should be emulated by all members of the PNP who are sworn to serve and protect the people.
He said that restoring the faith of the public on our policemen is a top priority concern that all members of the PNP must look into now that the organization is rocked by controversies from the top and down the line.
