ILIGAN CITY - Another Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) classmate of the City Mayor assumed office as Acting City Director of Iligan City Police Station last October 6.

Police Senior Superintendent Leony Roy Geroche Ga relieved Police Senior Superintendent Gerardo Manubay Rosales who was transferred to the Regional Office Directorial Staff after serving in the Iligan City Police Office for over a year.

Ga had served Iligan 24 years ago as a young Inspector and has been coming and going to the ICPO with transitory intervals during the last 17 years.

He was installed by PNP Region 10 Director Chief Superintendent Isagani Francisco Genabe, Jr.

In his turnover speech, PSSupt Rosales said that officers come and go and changing of the guards is common in the police organization.

He reported that during the period from January to September 14, 2014, the crime rate has remarkably decreased compared to the same period last year.

He also reported that during his tour of duty, the ICPO had arrested 12 members of a criminal gang and 6 most wanted persons including the No. 1, No. 3 and lately No. 9 most wanted person in Iligan and arrested 139 most wanted persons.

He also took pride in being the consistent No. 1 in the Regional Performance Ratings.

Finally, he thanked his men and all stakeholders for without their support and cooperation he could not have achieved all that he accomplished.

He made special mention of his classmate, Mayor Celso G. Regencia and all the members of the City Council for their support and the AFP Brigade Commander in helping him maintain peace and order in the City.

Incoming ICPO Acting City Director Ga exhorted his men to observe discipline, humility, loyalty and integrity.

He committed to set himself as an example to all his men and that he will “always adhere to the principle that all public servants must be accountable to the people in all their actions.”

He emphasized that he “will be quick in giving recognition to deserving personnel but firm to those who will not observe proper conduct particularly those involved in drugs and other criminal activities.”

During the ceremony Mayor Celso Gumera Regencia gave his well wishes to outgoing City Director Rosales whom he said was the youngest in their class.

He committed to give Ga the same support that he gave to Rosales.

Present during the event was Monsignor Jemar Vera Cruz of the Peoples’ Law Enforcement Board, Councilor Providencio Abragan, Jr. and other officers and members of the PNP Regional and City Office.

Also prominently present were the members of the Iligan City Police Retirees Association.

After a week since Ga’s assumption of office personnel on foot patrol are visibly deployed on the City streets.

His assumption was also timely enough to receive the patrol cars newly acquired by the City Government of Iligan.
