Congressman Vicente F. Belmonte, Jr. of the Lone District of Iligan obtained P15 Million from the National Government for a water supply project of Santa Elena, Barangay Captain Ruperto Alicaway revealed late this week.
Speaking on the occasion of the Barangay Day celebration of Santa Elena, Alicaway said that after typhoon Sendong the population of Santa Elena greatly swelled due to the establishment of Bayanihan Village in the barangay.
He explained that due to the sudden increase of the barangay’s population, the existing service pipe from the Iligan City Waterworks System (ICWS) main line can no longer supply the requirement of the barangay.
He added that his representation before the City Government to provide a remedy to the water problem has not obtained any favorable result.
“Thankfully, Congressman Belmonte was able to obtain an allocation of P15 Million from the General Appropriations Act this year,” Alicaway happily announced.
Alicaway also disclosed that an additional P1.5 Million was obtained by Congressman Belmonte for the concreting this year of the road at Purok 5.
Moreover, Congressman Belmonte has included P2 Million for further concreting of the road at Purok 5 in the proposed General Appropriations Act of 2015.
Earlier, Congressman Belmonte had told newsmen that the abolition of the PDAP will not prevent the members of Congress from obtaining allocations for the priority projects in their respective districts as long as they will do their bests. RANAO STAR
