Some sixty seven participants attended the orientation seminar conducted by the Lanao del Sur Electric Cooperative (Lasureco) at the Bagumbayan Hall of the City Hall Complex here Monday.

The seminar objective was stated by Ampe Benito of Lasureco Team.

The seminar was aimed to enlighten power consumers in the city on Lasureco’s present operations especially on the clustering of kuwentador it is implementing now.

Team leader Alhassan Maongco said “Lasureco under the leadership of its general manager Sultan Engr. Ashary Maongco is doing the best to serve the good people of Lanao del Sur and Marawi City.”

He explained the benefit of such clustering which is being used in Iligan and Cagayan de Oro, among other big cities nearby.

He said the clustering system is more economical and safety than the previous system.

He said it will only start running when light is turned on.

“Once turned off,” he added, “it will return to zero and if nobody is at home even for a month or more, it will not move.”

In the open forum, queries were made of which the Team was ably replied to the satisfactory of the participants.

Meanwhile, sources said the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) is pressuring the electric cooperative to settle its obligations to NGCP by minimizing the supply of power supply.

This is probably the reason for the brownouts in many areas in the province. Many towns have been powerless for long now.

Reports had it that Lasureco has incurred much debts or arrears of billions of pesos during the administrations of previous managers of the electric cooperative.

Maongco appealed therefore to the electric consumers to pay their bills on time to continue enjoying the light and other electric services provided by Lasureco.

Some city councillors and officials were also present during the orientation seminar.
