MARAWI CITY: A Bangsamoro leader pushing for the BOL ratification appealed to the Supreme Court to affirm the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) and set aside the petitions from other groups who wanted it illegal and unconstitutional.

In a grand rally for the BOL held on Saturday here, TESDA former director general Guiling Mamondiong said the “BOL is our last hope for peace.”

Mamondiong appealed to the Supreme Court to give peace a chance and set aside the petitions of PHILCONSA and others who are asking the Supreme Court to declare the BOL as illegal and unconstitutional.

Philconsa, a group of constitutionalists and framers of the 1985 Constitution, asked the Supreme Court to declare the BOL illegal and unconstitutional.

Earlier, Sakur Tan III also asked the Supreme Court to declare the BOL illegal and unconstitutional for almost similar grounds with that of the Philconsa.

Mamondiong said President Duterte once told him that all the Muslims hope and aspirations were found in the BOL. “No other president can give it to us,” he said.

Duterte is believed to have a Maranao blood.

Mamondiong is the chairman of Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte for President (MRRDP) movement which helped Duterte propelled to the presidency.

Thousands of men and women from various parts of the Ranaw Region (Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur) convened at the MSU Dimaporo gymnasium in this city on Saturday in support of the BOL.

Al-haj Murad Ibrahim, MILF central committee chairman who is expected to be the incoming chief minister of Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, led personalities who graced the occasion.

They included ARMM regional vice governor Haroun Al-Rashid Lucman, Lanao del Sur 2nd district representative Mauyag Papandayan Jr., Lanao del Sur 1st district assemblyman AbdulRashid Macarambon, Marawi city mayor Majul Gandamra, and Mamondiong. (MNY/RSP)
