MSU MAIN CAMPUS, Marawi City: Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Vice Governor Haroun Al Rashid Lucman, Jr. has slammed Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) saying it is not serving the interest of Marawi and her people.

In a grand rally for the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) held here on Saturday, Lucman lamented on what is happening now in Marawi where evacuees remain evacuees for more than a year.

He said that it is already more than a year since the evacuees live in tents and temporary shelters suffering from scarce basic needs but TFBM do not care.

“We entrusted ourselves to the Task Force Bangon Marawi, the decision-making body in rehabilitating Marawi of which not a single Maranao is a member, even our son City Mayor Majul Gandamra is not a member,” Lucman said.

He said all the Task Force members are from Luzon. “How can they decide about Marawi when they have not even set foot on it?”

Lucman said it is “discriminatory against us in deciding what to do with the devastation of our homeland (without consulting us.)”

Lucman said: “They bulldozed our houses without the knowledge of the city government. They also bulldozed even the undestroyed houses without consulting the owners.”

He was referring to the debris clearing conducted by the winning contractor Finmart in the first week of December but was stopped due to non-consultation with the city government and house owners.

Lucman said he would rather entrust the lives of his people to the incoming Bangsamoro Autonomous Region than to the Task Force Bangon Marawi.

The ARMM vice governor is the son of the late Paramount Sultan Congressman Haroun Al-Rashid Lucman Sr., among the fathers of the Bangsamoro struggle for self-determination, and former Lanao del Sur Governor Princess Tarhata Alonto Lucman, who are both royal and political icons of Ranao Region.(RSP)
