The Management of Lanao del Sur Electic Cooperative (Lasureco) said the power coop is not hindered in delivering its services amidst the five-month Marawi siege that started last May 23, 2017.

Dr. Nordjianna Lucman Dipatuan-Ducol, acting Lasureco general manager, said they have met along the way trials and challenges, especially financial matters, "but it did not come as a hindrance for us..."

She said they have no mobilization, no full safety gears, among others, "...yet we enter the battle area with prayers only for our full protection."

"We risked our lives just to ensure and sustain the mandates given to us by higher-ups," she said. "Alhamdulillah, we survived the epic battle, and we fulfilled our mission, and now, moving forward for the commencement of this rehabilitation," she added.

The Lasureco head was welcoming the guests and participants to the launching of Marawi Power Restoration Rapid Deployment Task Force or Marawi PPRD TF, last Monday.

The launching was led by Edgardo R. Masongsong, NEA administrator, and Felix Vergara, field manager of Task Force Bangon Marawi, and it was attended by different heads of power cooperatives and other stakeholder leaders.

The Marawi PRRD TF is composed of the Association of Mindanao Rural Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (Amreco), the Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association, Inc. (Philreca), the National Association of General Managers of Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (Nagmec), the National Center of Electric Cooperative Consumers, Inc. (NCECCO) and other allied organizations.

NEA has joined hands with various electric cooperatives and allied organizations in providing all the necessary assistance to ensure the speedy rehabilitation of the damaged distribution lines and power restoration in areas affected by the five-month-long battle between government troops and ISIS-linked Maute terrorist group in Marawi City.

"Lasureco takes pride and honor in accepting this enormous assistance that everyone has extended, and we cannot be more than grateful for all those great gestures," Ducol said, adding that "As we launch... the Marawi PRRD TF, we are not just helping rebuild Marawi, but we are making a history not just for Marawi but for the entire nation."
