"Salary for the month of June of the officials and employees of the City Schools Division will be released early to allow them observe fully the Holy month of Ramadhan." - Sansarona

The schools division of Marawi City under the leadership of OIC-Schools Division Superintendent Farida L. Sansarona held its first general orientation of teachers and staff for this school year on Monday at the Amai Pakpak Central Elementary School (APCES) in Barangay Green, this city.

It was attended by Director Sammy Pandapatan from the regional office of the Department of Education —Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DepEd-ARMM.)

In her message, Sansarona enjoined the teachers, staff and other employees of the division to perform their jobs as expected of them even as she said that DepEd ARMM Secretary John Magno has issued an order for teachers to return to their original assignments and those who fail to comply with the order will be considered as absent without official leave and will be subjected to legal charges of insubordination.

She said Secretary Magno will file formal charges against the school officials and employees for insubordination for defying orders.

Sansarona revealed that the June salary of the officials and employees of the City Schools Division will be released early to allow them to observe fully the Holy month of Ramadhan, as she thanked Regional Governor Mujiv Hataman and Regional Education Secretary Magno for considering the plight of the Muslim school functionaries observing the fast.

She also said that principals who are not effective because they are just roaming around or doing other business other than school businesses should wake up before it is too late. She said this also true to teachers who are just wasting their time roaming around. She said the Division will prioritize teachers. especially those who are retiring but are still holding Teacher I items. She said OIC Principals will be given their items provided they meet the educational qualifications, experience and relevant eligibility. She said, “Those who continue to defy Office orders should look for the person who can help you.” She asked, “Who are you to challenge the authority of the Regional Secretary?”

Sansarona said some teachers have not cleared themselves from money and property accountabilities which are required by Office orders. She said by July, teachers will be paid in checks. She added that there are some principals who are still functioning as principals without official designations from the Regional Secretary.

She said, “We are supposed to be the models.” She added that some teachers are even holders of masteral degrees, doctoral degrees and even law degrees.

Sansarona said that only four (4) district supervisors will be retained in the school division. She added the good news is that after the assumption of office of the division officials , appointments, like Teacher 1, 11 and 111 will be returned and LET passers may apply for teaching positions. She also reminded the principals of the “No Collection” policy of the school. She said we are serving a public school which is free. She said the principals and teachers are not supposed to collect any amount from the pupils because public education is free. She said some principals are collecting P50.00 from pupils. She said if this is done, a disciplinary action will be taken against the erring principal or teacher. She appealed to the principals and teachers saying, “ Once and for all, let us correct ourselves. We are not growing younger.”

Sansarona also announced that the City Division Office at APCES Compound is no longer a satellite office. She said it is the main office of the City Schools Division. She also called the names of the newly designated principals and their respective school assignments.

Sansarona said the teachers must be present personally to receive their pays (salaries) because there are requirements. She said if the pays are not received personally by the teachers, the pays (salaries) will be returned to the regional office. She also stressed that detail orders are valid only for one year. She said after one year, the detail order must be renewed or go back to the original assignment.

Sansarona expressed her sentiments after her silence for two years on account of the struggle for leadership. She said she has not abused her power and authority granted her by the regional secretary. The New Ranao Star
