DepEd-ARMM made what could be considered a major revamp in the Marawi Division of City Schools that ended years of confusion among teachers, non-teaching department personnel, parents and pupils.

In a General Attendance Meeting held on January 10, 2016 at the Marawi City Division Satellite Office, Amai Pakpak Central Elementary School (APCES), Barrio Green, Marawi City, of the Division of City Schools, copies of the memorandum dated December 21, 2015 of DepEd-ARMM Secretary Dr. John A. Magno announcing the designations of Pharida L. Sansarona as OIC Schools Division Superintendent, Salamat Abedin as OIC Assistant Division Superintendent for Secondary and Ana Zenaida A. Unte as OIC Assis tant Division Superintendent for Elementary were distributed to all attendees.

ARMM Executive Secretary Atty. Laisa Masuhud Alamia also noted the said memorandum by signing the document.

The designation came about with the announcement of the compulsory retirement of Schools Division Superintendent Mona A. Macatanong effective October 18, 2013. (See related story).

The designated officials were directed to “perform the functions as well as the duties and responsibilities inherent in this order. Coordination with the Regional Office and submission of necessary reports as expected.”

It was made understood that the designation order is temporary in nature, subject to applicable civil service rules, and may be revoked at any time.

It was also made clear that the order does not carry any grant of nor enhancement of salary or other emoluments except as authorized by applicable laws and rules.

In a phone message through the sound system, Secretary John A. Magno confirmed his Memorandum Order and urged everybody to report and cooperate with the officials so designated.

Designations of lower line and staff officials and personnel by the DepEd-ARMM Secretary were also announced during the meeting.

It was announced that Designation Orders of a few officials and personnel who were absent during the meeting will be returned to the Regional Office for disposition.

OIC Schools Division Superintendent Sansarona emphasized that the department means business and personal relations shall not affect official business.

She announced that recommendations made by the retired Schools Division Superintendent since October 19, 2013 when she was deemed retired shall not be processed.

Likewise, awards given by the retiree during the Teachers Day Celebration last December 2015 at the Kilala Office shall be of no value for promotion purposes.

Finally, Sansarona announced that the Office of the Schools Division of Marawi City that is recognized by the DepEd Regional Office is in Amai Pakpak Central Elementary School.
