MARAWI CITY – Political observers here see a shift of power in DepEd, Marawi City Schools Division from the City Mayor to the Provincial Governor, lately.

In the General Attendance Meeting held on December 10, 2016 at Amai Pakpak Central Elementary School where almost all the officials, teachers and employees were present, Governor Mamintal (Bombit” Alonto Adiong was the only politician invited.

Announced during the said meeting was the compulsory retirement effective October 18, 2013 of Schools Division Superintendent Mona A, Macatanong and the designation of Pharida L. Sansarona as OIC Schools Division Superintendent of Marawi City.

In his speech, Bombit expressed his relief that at last the confusion among subordinate school officials, employees, parents and pupils on whom should be recognized and followed as Schools Division Superintendent has finally ended.

He did not mention partisan politics as he cracked jokes that aroused applause among the crowd.
He exhorted everyone to recognize, respect and obey the duly designated officials as all must abide with the law.

It may be recalled that meetings and affairs of the City Schools Division under the retired Mona A. Macatanong were graced by City Mayor Fahad Salic while Bombit was almost always conspicuously absent.
