International martial arts experts observe First Maranao Sagayan Festival

International martial arts experts Hanishi Seigi, Taeko Shiroma, Danielo Tuazon and James Artero came all the way from abroad to observe the first ever Sagayan Festival in Marwi last September 14.

Leading Martial Arts expert Duma Sani said the festival depicted the Martial Arts of the Maranaos.

He said the Sagayan is replica of Marawian Warriors whose forebears had defended their homeland from foreign invaders.

The Sagayan Festival was a success due to the cooperation of the local government under the leadership of Marawi City Mayor Sultan Fahad Salic and other peace loving residents.
