Lanao Professionals seek more int’l concern on Marawi plight

ILIGAN CITY: A group of professionals in the Ranao region (Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur) has adopted a young international travelling lady princess as its sister to boost wider international concern for the plight of the Marawi displaced families. 

In its monthly meeting held here on Saturday, the Maranao-dominated Lanao Muslim Professionals (Lamusprof) adopted Princess Maria Leonora “Amor” Torres as Lamusprof’s sister. 

Lamusprof president retired General Mongcao Angintaopan said a formal conferment on Torres who is also known as Princess of the Royal House of Balo-i of the Pat a Pungampong ko Ranao (Four Prefectures of Lanao) will be held as soon as possible. 


Former Lamusprof president Prof. Macalayo Adtha, Sultan of the Royal House of Rogan, said Lamusprof's conferment on Torres is expected to be in partnership with the 16 royal houses of Lanao. 

Dubbed as Princess of Humanity and Peace, Torres willingly accepted the honor and vowed to do her best in helping the noble vision of Lamusprof and, most importantly, the plight of the Maranao victims of the 2017 Marawi siege. 

She said she is well known to many world leaders and has been involved in helping the needy in most parts of the world. "I will be happy to help the victims of the siege," she added.

It should be recalled that the Maute terror group and allies who aare Islamic dawlah-inspired laid siege on the Islamic city of Marawi on May 23, 2017 that lasted for five moths when the Philippine government declared it has liberated it from the perpetrators.

Member of Bangsamoro Parliament Prof. Punduma Sani, Marawi IDPs chair Datu Meno Manabilang and members of the press graced the occasion.
