Prof. Abdani graces Sinar '97 2nd Reunion

MARAWI CITY: Former Marawi City councilor Abdani Tagoranao Alonto expressed sadness on what has happened in the Islamic city of Marawi after the siege.

Alonto was speaking during the 2nd reunion of Sinar '97 held at the Marawi Resort Hotel here on Saturday. He represented the oldest private school in Marawi, the Jamiatul Philippine Al-Islamia (JPI) from which the Sinar '97 batch graduated in 1997.

JPI which is located in Raya Madaya had been devastated by areal strikes and bombs during the war between the Armed Forces and the IS-Maute group when the latter occupied the city.

"If you have entered in the ground zero or the most affected area in the siege, you will feel sad to see JPI destroyed because JPI had provided thousands of our people with good education and became best partners in nation-building," Alonto said.

The Sinar '97 is a batch of high school graduates from JPI in the year 1997. (RSP)
