DepEd-ARMM Lanao del Sur division-I kicks off talent festival

TAMPARAN, Lanao del Sur: Lanao del Sur-I division of the Department of Education of Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DepEd-ARMM) kicked off today, November 10 its two-day 2018 Division Festival of Talents held at the Municipal Hall compound of Tamparan, Lanao Del Sur from November 10 to 11, 2018.

With the theme: “Pagkakilala sa Kulturang Filipino Tungo sa Kapayapaan, Pagkakaisa at Pagbabago,” it was hosted by Tamparan-1 and Tamparan districts headed by Supervisor Hadja Esniehaya Ginaon D. Macarimbang and Hadja Maimona Monatao B. Maruhom, respectively, and Datu Palawan Disomimba Memorial National High School (DPDMNHS) led by its principal Bai Rasmia Macarambon.

The program started with an invocation led byUstadh No’man M. Monib, and the singing of the National Anthem and ARMM Hymn led by MTB-MLE supervisor Aminah D. Solaiman, PhD, Ll.B.


Supervisor Macarimbang in her brief welcome message thanked Allah for the memorable, remarkable and valuable program participated by all levels of learning such as Junior and Senior High Schools and Elementary under the auspices of Lanao del Sur-I division headed by Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Normillah Sumigay R. Pangandaman, al haja.

She said, “this festival of talents is one way to find out how far our pupils soar high.”

EPS-TLE supervisor Boniarah U. Mustapha, PhD, acknowledged and presented the participants.

The two assistant schools division superintendents of Lanao del Sur-I were in attendance.

ASDS for elementary education Bai-Labi Sahanee M. Sumagayan, PhD, represented Superintendent Pangandaman while ASDS for secondary education Soraida B. Noor, PhD, gave the statement of purpose of the event.


On her part, Sumagayan said they (participants) were in this yearly gala of the learners to show each other skills and compete in different talents.

She said the Department of Education (DepEd) is striving hard to realize the commitment for each Filipino to reach his ambition, to be talented and able to face challenges and achieve his dreams in the Philippines and abroad.

On her part, ASDS Noor said the purpose of the 2018 division festival of talents is the ability geared towards achieving a quality education.


“Our aim is to really have quality education, quality pupils and students, and quality resources especially, so that after the ratification of this Bangsamoro Organic Law, in short BOL, we are ready to be a part of BARMM,” Noor said, adding that the Division Festival of Talents consist of both knowledge and skills as you see in the program.

The crowd was entertained by an intermission beautifully presented by the Tamparan Teachers’ Dance Troupe selected DPDMNHS students.

Vice Mayor Ali “Kapitan” D. Tomawis of the Islamic municipality of Tamparan was the highest municipal official who graced the occasion.


Tomawis said the people of Tamparan welcome the guests and participants to the division festival and said they were happy and grateful for being the host of the momentous event.

He expressed thank to the division-I officlas and all the schools within it for their trust and confidence to the municipality of Tamparan for chosing it as the venue of the important event.

He expressed elation and pride that the participants have witnessed the beauty of his place and culture.

As for the mechanics of the competition, the respective learning area supervisors of the division presented the mechanics and briefing activities.

Spectators said the first day of the activity was successful.

The festival was participated by all schools in the division represented by their respective supervisors, principals, teachers, pupils and students, Tamparan municipal and barangay officials, and officials from the division.

After the opening program on the first day, November 10, participants will compete for such talents as Beauty Care for secondary level; Jingle Writing and Singing, secondary level; Dagliang Talumpati, SHS level; Sulat Bigkas na Tula , G6 elementary; Dress Making (Cocktail/Corporate Dress Construction) for secondary level; Essay Writing for secondary level; Poster Making for secondary and elementary levels; Debate for secondary level, Pop Quiz for elementary and secondary levels; and Bazar Display for elementary and secondary levels.

On the second day, November 11, at 8am-11:30am, they will vie for Food Processing (Fruit and Fish) for secondary level, Experimental Cookery (from Dressing to Meal Presentation) for secondary level, Interpretatibong Pagbasa for Grades 7, 8, 9 and 10 levels; Madulang Pagkukuwento for Grades 4, 5 and 6; MTB-MLE (Quiz Bee, Pananaroon, and Kambayok or Kapagonor, Kapagidaida sa Meranaw) for Kinder to Grade 3 levels.

In the afternoon from 1pm to 3pm, they will vie for Judging for Landscape Installation and Maintenance for secondary level; and Judging for Bazar Exhibit for secondary and elementary levels. - RSP
