Among the best highlights was the holding and selection of the Lakambini and Lakandula. Ms. Niham Dalupang won the Lakambini while Mr. Abdulwali I. Amikir as Lakandula. Both came from Bagoingud Elementary School under Principal Zakia Macote Balang. (Please see related story)

In her message of introduction, Supervisor Angin said, "Every August 2, we celebrate Buwan ng Wika... This program is celebrated by the whole country according to a memorandum from the DepEd national, regional, division, and district and our schools... This is one of our requirements. I wish to congratulate all those who come to this program and hope we can start it peacefully, happily with sportsmanship among our contestants..."

ASDS Noor, on her part, said, "Our occasion today is Buwan ng Wika with the theme Filipino Wika ng Saliksik.

Noor recalled that in the olden days, our parents prohibited us from speaking the Filipino language for the belief thaty we would become kaffir or Christians. "Hindi ganun ang pagkaka intindi natin dahil tinutoro natin itong wikang pangbansa sa ating mga mag aaral," she said.

Noor quoted Dr. Jose Rizal who said "Ang taong hindi marunong mag salita ng wikang pambansa ay halintulad sa malansang isda."

She enjoined to learn the national language because wherever part of the country it is being spoken and this we call Wikang Filipino.

"My fellow educators in the division of Lanao del Sur-1, I am happy that you celebrate the Buwan ng Wika," Noor said.

She lamented that she was not able to attend the Buwan ng Wika of the other schools' district in this municipality.

"I should have been there ... but they did not invite me. The memorandum was released on August 1 and they celebrated it on August 2. If I was really important to them, they should have invited me (as assistant schools' division superintendent) on August 2, they could text me and there was time," Noor said.
