Lanao Sur towns vow to hold peaceful polls

MARAWI CITY: Candidates in the May 14, 2018 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (BSK) elections in four municipalities of Lanao del Sur have vowed to conduct clean, honest, orderly and peaceful elections in their respective barangays this coming Monday, May 18 

Facilitated by Kazalimbago Movement, in partnership with the military, Comelec, local executives and municipal officials, civil society leaders, the four municipalities that conducted peace covenant signing are Buadiposo-Buntong which held it on May 3, Tamparan on May 4, Lumba Bayabao on May 5, and the municipality of Ditsaan Ramain held it earlier. 

Next week, BSK candidates in Taraka, Piagapo, Marantao, Bayang, Tubaran and others will also sign similar covenant to manifest their commitment for clean, honest, orderly and peaceful elections. 

The peace covenant signing was spearheaded by Kazalimbago Movement under the leadership of Ms. Samira Gutoc-Tomawis, a civil society leader. It was supported by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), the Armed Forces, local government units and leaders of multi-sectoral groups. 

BUADIPOSO BUNTONG

Mayor Noron Dadayan, assisted by her better half, Jamal, former mayor of the town, led the peace covenant signing in the municipality of Buadiposo Buntong where candidates have vowed to conduct a clean, honest, orderly and peaceful elections comes May 14. 

LUMBA-BAYABAO 


In the municipality of Lumba-Bayabao, Mayor Gambai Dagalangit said only about 20 barangays have to hold elections as the others are amicably negotiated without opposition. 


Dagalangit categorically said he will support all candidates for the baranay and SK elections on May 14, 2018, incumbent or new, who have helped him as mayor of the municipality.

Mayor Amina Disomimba expressed gratitude to all sectors particularly the civil society with special mention to the Kazalimbago Movement, the line agencies, military police and leaders in pushing for clean and honest elections. She expected that these elections will change the picture of ARMM region as election cheating capital of the country. 


On her part, Kazalimbago chairperson Samira Gutoc Tomawis asked the candidates, supporters and concern to maintain the name of Tamparan as Islamic municipality of the country by conducting a fair, clean and honest elections.
