Maigo town mayor leads voluntary turnover of 34 firearms, explosives

IILIGAN CITY: Mayor Rafael C. Rizalda of the municipality of Maigo, Lanao del Norte led the turn over ceremony of thirty-four assorted firearms which were voluntarily surrendered to Joint Task Force Ranao Monday morning. 

Tabak division public affairs office (Tabak-DPAO) in a statement told Ranao Star that Colonel Ezra James P. Enriquez, Deputy Brigade Commander of 2nd Mechanized Brigade of the JTF Ranao represented the joint task force in accepting the surrendered firearms and explosives held at the covered court of the municipality. 

It said the yielded firearms and explosives include one (1) light anti-tank weapon, twenty-six (26) high-powered firearms, seven (7) low-powered firearms, eighteen (18) fragmentation and rifle grenades and one (1) improvised explosive.


Tabak-DPAO said Mayor Rizalda explained the advocacy of President Duterte in turning over all loose firearms not only in Mindanao but in the entire country as a whole. “Today we turn over loose firearms in my municipality in line with the President’s advocacy,” Said Rizalda.

On his part, Major General Roseller G. Murillo, Commander, JTF Ranao and 1st Infantry “Tabak” Division, said: “Peace and security is a shared responsibility. Collaboration among the local government units, local populace and the securing forces is vital in attaining a just and lasting peace in our area of responsibility,” Tabak-DPAO said.
