Dr. Norhaima Aragasi Alumpong: Our mission is to provide quality education to our students

"Barimbingan Central Elementary School aspires to develop academic excellence among the young and mold them to be good and upright in culturally academic atmosphere and its mission is to ensure to provide quality basic education.”

This is what Norhaima Macapundag Aragasi Alumpong, principal of Barimbingan Central Elementary School, emphasized during her first State of the School Address (SOSA) delivered on March 26, 2018.

Aragasi, a doctor of philosophy, was confident in delivering her address as she was reporting the accomplishment her school even as she related the background and history of her school.

Dr. Aragasi said her school was elevated from an elementary school to a central elementary school when Ditsaan Ramain was divided into three districts.

She said Barimbingan Central Elementary School is located at Barangay Barimbingan, Municipality of Ditsaan Ramain, Lanao Del Sur.

“The barangay was named Barimbningan because of the species of very sturdy tree locally called Barimbingan, which only thrive along the slope of its forest,” she said.

Dr. Aragasi said the school is more or less one hectare which was donated in the early 1950’s.

“It was,” she said, “initially intended for primary grades only, but as population grows the school was expanded through the efforts of the community, the teachers and the government.”

Later, she added, more school’s buildings were constructed by the former Department of Education and Sports through different administrations. - RSOY/RSP
