Rice Distribution Continues for the Holy Month of Ramadan in Lanao del Norte

The men and women of the Provincial Governor’s Office – Community Affairs Division (PGO-CAD) left the Capitol early morning of June 14, 2017 (Wednesday) to distribute sacks of rice and boxes of dates to three Municipalities of Lanao del Norte: Poona Piagapo, Sapad and Bacolod.

This is a continuous initiative of Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo providing sacks of rice and boxes of dates to all Jama’at (place of gathering) every year during the celebration of the Holy Month of Ramadan. This humble gesture is a testament of how caring, loving and sincere the Governor is to all the residents of Lanao del Norte.

The Holy Month of Ramadan is observed by Muslims worldwide. This is the month of fasting, for 29-30 days Muslims celebrates the first revelation of the Holy Qur’an to Prophet Muhammad. This commemoration is considered as one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The Holy Month of Fasting will begin based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon and is observe every ninth month of the Islamic calendar.

In the Municipality of Poona Piagapo, Municipal Coordinator Hadji Jamalica Bacarat led the distribution of 201 sacks of rice and boxes of dates to 52 Mosques in the Municipality. Ustads Alibasher Mustapha and Ustads H. Carim Ambor were present during the occasion to accept the humble assistance of Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo.

Both Ustads were grateful to the Governor. “This assistance from our Governor is a blessing that is deeply appreciated by all Muslims of the Province of Lanao del Norte”, said Ustads Alibasher Mustapha. The food package will be given to each Jamaa (religious followers) for their Plapis (first meal after a day of fasting).

Municipal Coordinator of Sapad Ramelito B. Tubongbanua turned over 160 sacks of rice along with boxes of dates to one of the Mosque leaders Imam Nasrodin Hassan of Kuwait Mosque, Sapad has 56 Mosques. Apolonio D. Bacalares Municipal Coordinator of Bacolod handed 72 sacks of rice and boxes of dates to Imam Manan Ismael for the 20 Mosques in the Municipality. PIO-LDN
