26 hired on spot in Iligan Retail Job Fair 2017

ILIGAN CITY, March 30 -- Some 26 job applicants were Hired-On-The-Spot (HOTS) during the first Robinsons Place Iligan Retail two-day Job Fair on 2-3 March 2017, at the School Gymnasium, Mindanao State University- Iligan Institute of Technology, Tibanga, Iligan city.

The Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. X (DOLE-X), through its Lanao del Norte Provincial Field Office (LDN PFO) Head Remegio D. Cabañog reported that 15 of the 26 HOTS were hired by Robinsons Department Store; 6 in Robinsons Supermarket; 4 in Home Plus De Oro/ Pacific Home Plus; and 1 in Robinsons Handyman Incorporated.

Cabañog clarified that the said Job Fair of the Robinsons Retail Holdings Incorporated was in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Iligan City thru its Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

Angeline T. Fin, 29 years old, married with one child and a resident of Bagong Silang, this city was one of the HOTS. She applied for a Department Head position for Robinsons Supermarket.

Fin used to work as a manager at a big Funeral and Life Insurance Company of the city but resigned since her only son was diagnosed with Speech Disorder secondary to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder that requires immediate therapy and medication.

Now that her son had fully recovered, she felt motivated to find a job to compensate with the needs of her family.

“This my first work after my resignation and I am professionally challenged for I would be handling a big position in a big and well-known company that requires all my knowledge, skills, and attitude that I have possessed thru my life experience,” Fin narrated.

“I am so thankful first of all to our Mighty Creator, to the Robinsons Retail Holdings, Incorporated for giving me this once in a lifetime employment opportunity to work with them and also to our PESO and of course, DOLE-X LDN PFO who organized this event. I hope that you can help more people like me who needs job,” she added.

A total of eight participating entities under the Robinsons Retail Holdings Incorporated. Eight participating Robinsons retailers participated, namely; (1) Handyman; (2) Toys R Us; (3) Daiso Japan; (4) Home Plus Corporation; (5) Robinsons Department Store; (6) Robinsons Supermarket; (7) Robinsons Appliances; and the (8) Robinsons Business Center.

Government agencies likewise participated - such as the Social Security System (SSS), Philhealth; and Pag- ibig Fund.

Cabañog further informed that some 2,142 applicants were registered.

Meanwhile, the participating retailers solicited some 1,000 job vacancies like Store Managers; Assistant Store Managers; Store Supervisors; Department Heads; Gift Registry Officers; Receiving Supervisors; Administration Officers; Visual Merchandisers; Customer Service Representatives; Receivers; Receiving Clerks; Sales Associates; Secretaries; Administration Clerks; Cashiers; Sales Clerks; Business Center Agents; Information System Specialists; Sign Shop Artists; and Merchandising Clerks.

Cabañog said, “The Robinsons Place Iligan opens its doors to Iligan City and neighboring municipalities and provinces, providing many gainful employment opportunities to the people, it is a big help to the people who are unemployed.”
