Linamon to Launch Engineered Bamboo Production


ILIGAN CITY – Linamon, Lanao del Norte will soon engage in Engineered Bamboo Production as 24 trainees from said municipality completed the weeklong training on the trade last week, it was learned.

Former Kagawad Robert Palomares of Luinab, Iligan City, a pioneer in Engineered Bamboo Production, told newsmen that 23 trainees from the said municipality trained under him at the Home Biz Crafts Production Shop and Learning Center under sponsorship of the local government of the same town.


Palomares said that the trainees were sent by Mayor Randy Macapil after the said municipality had chosen Engineered Bamboo Production as a Project under the Bottom-Up Budgeting (BUB) of the said municipality in coordination with the Provincial Office of the Department of Trade and Industry.

The Local Government of Linamon intends to develop its engineered bamboo industry inasmuch as giant bamboos are abundant in the locality, it was learned.

Giant bamboo is the variety most suitable for engineered bamboo production because of the thickness of its slats, Palomares said.

Norma Maniego, leader of trainees, said that the local government of Linamon has received a set of engineered bamboo production equipment from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

It was learned recently from DTI Provincial Director Reuel Paclipan that Engineered Bamboo Production is a promising economic activity nowadays that gives opportunities to farmers and processors to have a source of income.

It was also gathered that the global market for engineered bamboo looks unlimited.

The successful trainees were Norma Maniego, Felix S. Genon, Lourdes Barcemo, Arche Eslit, Junjie Pioquinto, Johnny B. Tamanan, Necasio Bacolod, Rosemarie Eslit, Betoy Daprosa, Mary Jane Taping, Enecita Lapuz, Marites Taping, Lucena G. Tapales, Methusael Litorsa, Regie Sialana, Jules Tecson, John Denno Talaguit, Ramon R. Lim III, Chris Jaylord Pastidio, Benigno Gentapa, Alberto Canonigo, John Mark Inapan and Nelda Tenario.

In a simple ceremony held at the Municipal Gym of Linamon, Lanao del Norte, the successful trainees were given certificates of completion certificates of completion signed by Robert Palomares, Councilor Renato Pestolante and Mayor Randy Macapil.

They will soon operate the equipment given by DTI.
