Iligan City - Troops recovered an 81mm mortar outside the gate of National Power Corporation's Agus 1 Hydro Electric Power Plant, based in Marawi City, around 6:00 o'clock in the morning of October 22.

A night before, a hand grenade was lobbed by unidentified armed men at the gate of the same power plant. No one was hurt in the incident.

LtC. Joselito Pastrana, commander of the 65th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army, believed that what happened was a 'desperate move' of the local terrorist group in the area who tried to sabotage the government's power facility.

"May bagong base dun ang RPSB (Regional Public Safety Battalion). Siguro 'yun ang mga desperate moves ng mga local terrorists to launch offensives sa PNP," matud pa ni Pastrana. It was a month ago when the unit of RPSB arrived from the regional headquarters of PNP Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

In an interview with the media, Pastrana said that peace and order situation in their areas of responsibility, especially in Marawi City, is still under control despite of what happened.

"We intensified checkpoints and foot patrols with the PNP, particular na sa city proper para ma-preempt natin ang mga violent activities na gagawin ng mga local terrorist groups," Pastrana said.
