A 2nd quarter meeting of the Local Price Coordinating Council (LPCC) was held last June 7, 2017 to discuss for more activities to protect consumers.
During the meeting, it was learned that LPCC of Iligan City was reconstituted by Mayor Celso G. Regencia through Executive Order No. 21, Series of 2016, dated March 28, 2016.
The reconstitution was deemed to enhance and strengthen LPCC’s mandate to protect the interest and welfare of the consumers.
In order to achieve its mandate and sustainability, the Mayor being the Chairman of LPCC has allocated an annual fund worth P100, 000 to the council to be taken from the appropriate fund of the City Mayors Office.
The meeting also tackled the calendar activities for the period of June to December 2016 with the corresponding budget allocation.
Activities includes regular price monitoring not only in the Poblacion area but to include barangays, operation timbangan in public markets and “talipapas”, consumer education and advocacy seminars/briefings and enforcement of different fair trade laws to protect consumers from trade malpractices.
Mr. Joseph “Benjie” Teves , Community Relation Officer who represented the City Mayor’s Office and City Administrator’s Office expressed full support to all LPCC activities which are primarily focused to ensure the availability of basic and prime commodities at reasonable prices and protect consumers from illegal manipulations and similar situations.
