APO marks 90th Founding Anniversary

The Alpha Phi Omega (APO) Marawi City Alumni Association celebrated the 90th Founding Anniversary of APO at the City Hall Complex here on December 16, 2015 with the theme: “Service for Peace and Community.”

The celebration started off with a motorcade, followed by ‘Operation Linis’, then the culmination program with Brod. Sultan Fahad “Pre” U. Salic as the keynote speaker.

The motorcade went around the city of Marawi, while the Operation Linis, a joint project of the APO Marawi City Alumni Association and the City General Services Office (CGSO) under the control and supervision of Brod. Hon. Sultan Fahad “Pre” U. Salic, was conducted at Quezon Avenue, Marawi City. The culmination program was held at the third floor of the City Hall Complex and attended by members of the APO and some distinguished guests.

In his keynote address, City Mayor Sultan Fahad “Pre” U. Salic stressed the importance of unity, solidarity and cohesion in the service for peace and community as he urged his fellow APOs to continue the support and cooperation of the undertakings of their fellow brothers sisters in the fraternity in order to be of service to God, country and humanity. City Mayor Salic also encouraged his fellow brothers and sisters in the fraternity to support the bids of their brothers and sisters who are running for political positions in the 2016 National and Local elections, both national and local levels..

Sultan Ivan Tomawis, APO OIC president and organizer said that the APO Marawi City Alumni Association has sponsored various activities in commemoration of the 90th founding anniversary. He said a motorcade, clean up drive and culmination program were held to celebrate the APO founding anniversary. He said as APO as much as possible they extend their services to the community. He said in addition to the clean up drive, the APO also conducted medical mission for the benefit of community members. He said APO will go forward to the best of our abilities to render services to the community and promote peace. He also asked his fellow brothers and sisters to help his brothers and sisters in the time of need in any way they can.

Mesantime APO Executive Secretary Engr Said Bantuas said that he supports the call of City Mayor Salic for unity, solidarity and cohesion among members of the organizations. He said that Mayor Pre has encouraged our brothers and sisters in the fraternity to extend their helping hand to brothers and sisters in their undertakings to promote peace and serve the interest of the community. He stressed that mayor Pre wants his brothers and sisters to support the APO candidates who are running for political positions in the coming elections, whether in national, provincial, city or municipal levels.

The culmination program opened with an invocation led by Brod. Moh’s Imam, organizer; followed by the singing of the national anthem led by Sis Aisa Oday, organizer.

The Opening remarks was delivered by Brod. Rash Arimao, organizer, while the welcome address was given by Brod., Bash Datu-Imam, organizer.

Brod. Cydee Bantuas, organizer and OIC secretary acknowledged the participants, guests and members of the APO who sported full support to the program.

The brief history of APO Marawi City was made by Brod. H. Urangotan Ali, organizer. Brod. Blo Umpsr Adiong, organizer and past APO president gave an inspirational message.

The other APO brothers who gave their messages include Brod. Alongan Guro, organizer; Brod. Guy Guro, organizer; Brod Ivan Tomawis, organizer; and Brod. Bert Pangandaman. Brod Nata Ganda introduced the keynote speaker, Hon. Sultan Fahad “Pre” U. Salic, city mayor.

The pledge of loyalty was led by Brod. Yusoph Dimatingcal, while the APO toast song was led by Sis Raisa Lao. The closing remarks was given by a fellow APO brother.

Brod. Rash Arimao, Brod, Alongan Guro and Sis Cairon Dumatingacal served as masters of ceremony.
