MARAWI MAYOR ORDERS TIGHT SECURITY ON NGCP TOWERS

The Mayor of this Islamic City in the heart of MiNdanao ordered Saturday leaders of barangays where NGCP high tension lines traverse to put a tight watch on the high voltage transmission lines after two steel towers were bombed and toppled down over a week ago in barangay Patani.


In a hastily organized press conference during a lull of activities in the Opening of the Athletic Meet of the Division of City Schools here Mayor Fahad Salic told newsmen he stayed until early in the evening Saturday to assess the situation and to meet with all officials and community leaders in barangays hosting NGCP transmission towers and high tension lines.

He disclosed that he had issued a Memorandum to all barangays to deploy their barangay tanods to put the towers under closed watch 24 hours a day.

He added that he does not want power transmission throughout the Mindanao grid affected by the mischief of a few misguided individuals in this City.

“The authorities are now investigating to track down the persons involved in the tower bombing incidents.”

In a related development, Vice Mayor Anna Mahlyne Annie Abedin Macarampat of Ditsaan, Ramain, Lanao del Sur told newsmen that they have not been experiencing rotating brownouts for quite sometime as NGCP has supplied sufficient electric power to LASURECO.



She said that the people of Ditsaan Ramain appreciate the concern that NGCP has accorded to the people of Lanao del Sur by providing adequate electricity. – The New Ranao Star –
