Lanao del Norte lawmakers Conduct public hearing on vital codes

Tubod, Lanao del Norte – The Sanggunian Panlalawigan of this progressive province recently conducted public hearings on five of its new and revised legislative codes that will soon be implemented.

The draft ordinances discussed include the Provincial Revised Revenue Code, Gender and Development Code, Children’s Code, Health and Sanitation Code, and Revised Environmental Code.

Members of the provincial council visited four municipalities identified as Forum Centers of clustered towns.

The 22 towns of Lanao del Norte were clustered into four Forum Centers. Cluster A is comprised of the interior towns of Balo-i, Matungao, Pantar, Pantao-Ragat, Poona Piagapo, and Tagoloan. Cluster B is comprised of Linamon, Bacolod, Kauswagan, Munai, and Maigo, while Cluster C is consists of Tubod, Kolambugan, Tangkal, Magsaysay, and Baroy. Cluster D is made up of the municipalities of Kapatagan, Lala, Salvador, Sapad, Nunungan and Sultan Naga Dimaporo.

The public hearings were facilitated by the office of the Sanggunian Panlalawigan Secretary and conducted on August 19, 29, 21 and September 3, 2015.

The Provincial Revenue Code was presented by Atty. Macarupung Dibaratun. Board Member Dibaratun explained the need for revising the provincial revenue code. Helping Dibaratun provide the justifications for the code modification were Provincial Assessor Roger Aguaviva and Provincial Treasurer Mildred Hingco.

SP Committee on Health and Sanitation Chairperson Abdul Harris Ali discussed the three codes sponsored by his committee. Among the codes he presented were Gender and Development Code, Children’s Code and Health and Sanitation Code. Ali also underscored the importance of our youth in nation building and the benefits Lanao del Norte residents will derive with the launching of the provincial LGU’s Women and Children Crisis Center.



For his part, Board member Tawantawan Cauntongan explained the effects of the Revised Environment Code to the natural resources of the province. SP-PGLDN
