Lanao del Norte Team Tops Regional Rescue Olympics

The seven-man rescue team from Lanao del Norte bagged the over-all championship title in the recent 3-day Regional Rescue Olympics dubbed as ‘2015 Benchmarking on Basic Life Support and Standard First Aid’ - LGU Category held at Pearlmont Hotel and Lumbia Airport, Cagayan de Oro City.

The Lanao del Norte team is composed of Winco Tomimbang, Arvin Antonio, Roy Joseph Secuya, Doroteo Andrin, Charlie Gabawa, Arwin Miquiabas and Joel Karl Malinao.

“We only followed what we did in our trainings especially when we trained also the different municipal emergency response units in our province. We are just happy to represent Lanao del Norte”, expressed Team Leader Winco Tomimbang.

The Lanao del Norte Emergency Response Team was also declared as Best in Bandaging, Best in Lifting, and Best in Team Work.

The rescue competition was among the emergency responders from Iligan City, Cagayan de Oro City, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, and Bukidnon.

Participating teams were divided into two categories – Hospital and LGU. Teams were judged according to proper execution and speed.

Representatives from the Philippine Air Force, Office of the Civil Defense - Region X, Philippine Red Cross, and Bureau of Fire Protection were tapped as judges for the competition.

The Rescue Olympics was organized by the Research Epidemiology Surveillance and Disaster Response Unit of DOH-Region 10.

The Lanao del Norte responders received trophies, medical and rescue equipment including a tent worth P75-thousand pesos for their rescue unit. VNL & LAR/PIO-LDN
